Miscellany

Due to my life being incredibly full and busy right now, I didn't really watch anything besides Season 5 of Star Trek: Voyager (which I am LOVING!) last week, thus there was really nothing to share for Saturday Matinee.  There should be one this week though, so keep your eyes open!

Last week the Bonnie dog had to have eye surgery.  She is now the Nick Furry...er, Fury, of the dog world.
Yep, she's just got one eye now.  But she's cool with it, and so am I...sorta.  I'll admit that I was extremely upset when I realized her eye was not getting any better, and that the only option was to have it removed.  Extremely upset is really a bit of an understatement, to be completely honest.  My poor, patient brother can confirm that the day of the surgery I closeted myself in my room all day, and when Bonnie came home I spent the evening {trying} not to freak out.  Yeah...that didn't work so well, the trying not to freak out part...especially when there was a bit of blood seepage, which was completely normal, but it scared me just the same.  And sorry if that was TMI.  But we got through that, and I'm happy to say that Bonnie is doing very well.  And it really does not seem to bother her having just one eye.  The "cone of shame", now that's a different story. ;)

On February 13th, my baby brother turned 21.
Ouch.  That wasn't supposed to happen!  Happy Birthday, Alex!
And then three days later, my bestie also turned 21.
Happy Birthday, Kellie!

We met up with Kellie and Aubrey in Sandpoint and proceeded to have a simply splendid afternoon.  It included delicious food, "wicked" snacks, and watching The Princess Bride.  Friends, films, food - a more delightful way to spend an afternoon could not be found.

Our "naughty" snack table...and Aubrey's foot. ;)
Here's a short film my brother just completed.  I think it's pretty awesome...

And the accent he used?  Totally awesome!  If for no other reason, like it for the accent...or the supremely cool score he wrote and recorded!  My brother...well, he's the best. ;)

Make sure to check out the HUGE giveaway going on at Accordion to Kellie during the Literary Heroine Blog Party!  It is without a doubt the giveaway and event of the year.  Just sayin'...

I'm totally looking forward to Bramblewood Fashion's...

Judging from how life has been lately, I don't know if I'll have time to participate, but whether I do or not it's going to be a fun blog fashion event!
And I think that's enough randomness for one day.  Have a lovely week, y'all!

p.s.
I just finished responding to all of the comments from this past month.  If you asked me a question, it's been answered now. :)

I ♥ Thursday | no. 7

This week I'm lovin'...

Bradley James & Colin Morgan singing/miming You're the Voice by John Farnham.
Even if you don't watch Merlin, this video is a scream!  Seriously, do yourself a favor and watch it...

I love the friendship between those two.  It really comes through in their performances as Arthur and Merlin...even though Arthur is a dollop head most of the time.   A lovable dollop head, to be sure...with an adorable smile.  *grin*

And yes, I have that song stuck in my head...and now you do, too.  You're welcome.

I'm also loving the beautiful costumes in Merlin...

Who doesn't love a flowing red cloak, and there are plenty to be had in this show, believe me!
I love the jewel tones worn by Morgana - green, red, purple, blue - and also the softer pastels worn by Gwen - lavender, peachy pink, pale gold and blue.

Also, the horses in this show are drop-dead-gorgeous!!!   See for yourselves...

I found all of these beautiful, high-res images at this website.  They have hundreds of high-res images, both promotional and from the episodes themselves, including screencaps.  It's not often you find a site like this, folks, and my little graphic design loving heart almost stopped.  I was just a few steps away from hyperventilating, as my brother can attest to since I dragged him over to see all of the beautiful pictures. *grin*  Yeah, high-res excites me.  And yes, you will be seeing Merlin wallpapers soon! ;)

Happy Trails, y'all!

I ♥ Thursday | no. 5

This week I'm lovin'...

Country Peach Passion tea...with a bit of honey...*bliss*
And it's good hot or iced.   Love it!

I'm also loving...

I've always loved Converse All-Stars, even before I discovered Doctor Who and met the FABULOUS 10th Doctor.  Kellie can back me up on that;)

They're just so fun.  I love wearing them with denim skirts.  Unfortunately, my pair are getting a bit ragged and are unfit for wearing other than around the property.
I guess I need a new pair, huh? ;)

I LOVE this 10th Doctor inspired outfit...

Especially the skirt - LOVE the skirt.  And the Doctor. ;)

And so much for not mentioning Doctor Who in this post.  I was making a feeble attempt to curb my obsession...eh, why even try? :)
A friend and I were talking on chat last night and he suggested (jokingly) that I take something for my Doctor Who obsession.  I replied, "I already have...the Doctor recommends time travel."
*grin*

Happy trails, y'all!

excepting the tea - that was from Google images

One Skirt | Three Days | Day Three

{Day Three}

Last day of the challenge!  I think this may have been my favorite fashion challenge yet.
Thank you Ashley, Natasha, and Olivia for hosting this event!
It's been just lovely and I hope you'll be doing this again!

So, today the idea was to dress up my skirt for church...even though I didn't go today.
My family is in between churches for several reasons right now, so we do our own Bible study at home every Sunday, although my bro and I occasionally attend a friend's church.
Anyway, moving on...

I was being optimistic and hoping for a warm sunny day today, but my hopes were in vain as it's cloudy and bit rainy today...with 5 seconds of sunshine here and there.  Another typical North Idaho spring day;)

In reality, if I had gone to church I would have worn my denim jacket with this outfit, instead of the pink vest...that is, if my denim jacket hadn't been MIA since December when I let my mom borrow it.  I have no idea where it disappeared to and neither does she.  The search goes on.

pink crocheted vest - made by me
t-shirt with lace trim - Fred Meyer
skirt - Christopher & Banks
shoes - no idea

My hair was still damp from being washed this morning, so I left it down today.

I've enjoyed seeing everyone's outfits!
I hope you all have a beautiful and blessed Sunday:)

p.s.
thanks to my bro for taking my picture on all three days - you do an amazing job!

One Skirt | Three Days | Day Two

{Day Two}

I have a lot of shirts that go with this skirt, but the point of a challenge is to challenge yourself, right?
So, for today I chose a shirt I'd never worn with this skirt.
The rest of the accessories just sort of came together.

o u t f i t
plaid blouse - thrifted {Goodwill}
teal cami - don't know
belt - Corral West
initial belt buckle - gifted {Montana Silversmiths}
embroidered denim skirt - Christopher & Banks
pink and brown cowgirl boots - Ariat

Happy Trails y'all!

One Skirt | Three Days | Day One

{Day One}

I was going to use a skirt I recently remade for this challenge, but the dog and sheep conspired against me and it is now in sore need of a wash.
So, I decided to use one of my very favorite spring/summer denim skirts instead...

The afternoon lighting was perfect in our backyard.
My sheepies have been busy mowing the lawn for the past few days, so they became my props:)

o u t f i t
pullover hooded sweater - Christopher & Banks
pink t-shirt - Fred Meyer
denim skirt - Christopher & Banks
shoes - Keds

I love shopping Christopher & Banks' sale rack - so many lovely treasures!

Today was one of those lovely North Idaho days where the weather changed about 50 times.
(yes, I slightly exaggerate...)
It was kind of hard picking something to wear for the day.

Happy Trails!

P.S.
many thanks to my bro for once again being my excellent photographer

Going Through the Era's {Matinee Saturday} - 1950s

I'm linking up to Bramblewood Fashion's Going Through the Era's event!

This week {March 18th-24th} is the 1950s.

Today's theme is...Matinee Saturday!
{do movie reviews of movies from the era. share your favorite Actors/Actresses, fun movie trivia, etc....}

The films that stand out to me from this era are the lavish Biblical epics (The Ten Commandments, Ben-Hur, Quo Vadis, The Robe, etc.) and, at the other end of the scale, the totally bizarre Science Fiction adventures (The Day the Earth Stood Still, Them!, This Island Earth, Journey to the Center of the Earth, The Blob, etc.).

I loved watching The Ten Commandments when I was little and was delighted when I discovered the other wonderful Biblical epics.  They're big, colorful, and in many ways bring the Bible to life for me and encourage me.

I also grew up watching the old sci-fi films, thanks to my dad.  There's really nothing he likes better than to sit down with all of us and watch The Day the Earth Stood Still, Journey to the Center of the Earth, or When World's Collide.  All of that exposure to sci-fi fare at an early age must have had it's effect, because I'm right there with him enjoying every minute.  It makes for a rather startling contrast to my usual old-fashioned, girly self;)

was too lazy didn't have time to review a film today, so I thought I'd steal Ashley's idea (hope you don't mind, Ashley:) and just list my favorite films from the 50s.

I thought that was pretty cool and I just had to tell someone=)
