Muffin wanted some lovin'. :)

brown cardigan // St. John's Bay
denim skirt // Chadwick's
brown flats // thrifted {Goodwill}

I've been trying to get pictures of this outfit for a long time but every time I wore it, it just didn't happen.  Finally, I get to share one of my favorite outfits!  Just looking at the delicious mint green with brown polka dots makes me want to eat mint chip ice cream.  I used my cameo pin to dress the outfit up a bit.

This entire weekend was really hard for me emotionally (Valentine's Day can be horribly cruel for single young ladies.), and on top of that I have a sniffle which is making me feel icky all over.  That never helps your outlook on life!  I honestly don't remember anything about yesterday's sermon.  I'm sure it was wonderful, but I gave up on concentrating and did some soul searching instead.  Sometimes, it's not just the only thing you can do, but the only thing you should do.

I leafed through Psalms, and stopped at Psalm 71.  Several verses in particular leaped off the page at me, and I wanted to share them with you.  Here's the whole chapter, but I've put those verses in bold.

In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.
Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me.
Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.
Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
For thou art my hope, O Lord God: thou art my trust from my youth.
By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother's bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee.
I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.
Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.
Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth.
For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together,
Saying, God hath forsaken him: persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him.
O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help.
Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt.
But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.
My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof.
I will go in the strength of the Lord God: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.
O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.
Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.
Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee!
Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth.
Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.
I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God: unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel.
My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.
My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt.
Psalm 71

My Father's unfailing love for me never ceases to astonish me, and His Word never ceases to bring me strength and comfort when I am at my lowest.  He truly is everything I need in this life and beyond.  While I may want some things so much it makes my heart hurt, the only thing I truly need is Jesus Christ.  He is everything.  I praise Him for His love and salvation, and for my dear sister in Christ who gives me big hugs, verses of encouragement, listens to me, and prays with me over the phone.  Thank you so much, Sarah.  You mean so much to me, girl.

The sun is always shining above the clouds, and, in addition to Sarah, my sunshine came in the form of an afternoon spent with my dearest Kellie and her sisters on her birthday.  Happy Birthday, dear!!  We ate chocolate, laughed, watched video clips from the last swing dance and also some Wives and Daughters, and may or may not have discussed at length how frustrating men can be.  It was just what I needed. *grin*

How about you?  Do you have a hard time during Valentine's Day, or is it one of your favorite holidays?
I want to know!

  1. Lovely verses!
No, I don't really get worked up about Valentines day, but I guess I do feel sorry for myself at other times *grin*.

I love the outfit! You did such a great job on the blouse! Love that style! And the cameo is fab!

Love ya so much! You made me laugh with your last sentence! :D

  2. What a relief that I'm not the only one who has a hard time on Valentine's Day! With most of the blogs written by single girls that I read, it seems like they just positively breeze through that day. I, for one, honestly felt like barfing every time I had to walk down a red and pink, heart-infested aisle in any store. :)

This year was a little better somehow, though. Nothing was different- I'm still single and I baked chocolate chip cookies and watched my favorite chick flicks like usual, but I didn't feel bitter. I actually felt at peace somehow. (But really, it might have just hit me a little early this year, because I was having a tough time about a week before Valentine's Day...)

  3. Ahhh!!!! I love the blouse! (and the rest of the outfit of course, :) If I judge correctly, I think I have the pattern you used for the blouse. Now I must make one for myself just like yours! Lovely loveliness!

  5. Love your outfit Natasha! That blouse is so cute!

I personally like Valentine's Day, but in my family we always treated it as a celebration of all love including family and friends, not just romantic.

Now that I'm a bit older I do find myself sometimes wishing I had a significant other around Valentine's. I think most single girls do. For now I'm trying to focus on my sweet family, my great friends, and my heavenly Father.

My three best girlfriends from college and myself decided to go out for the evening for dinner, shopping, and a girly movie. It made for a fun, memorable time, and pretty much chased away any gloom we may have felt.

I hope that you are feeling better...the Psalms are so uplifting. Reading them always gives me better perspective on who I am, and who God is.
Sorry for the ridiculously long comment!
    Love in Christ,

  6. I ignore Valentine's Day, on the basis of it not being native where I'm from. And this year, it was very mild, so no problem on this side. But I had to ignore my blog roll, too. :-)

  9. I'm married, so it's been awhile since I've been along on VDay. But we like to spend it with our kids - and this year we even spent it with my niece, nephew and my brother and sister-in-law! I love celebrating love and having a day to remind us to do that, but I don't think it just has to be about romantic love. Glad you got some good soul searching done, and some time with people you love!

  12. Cassie - I didn't used to be upset by Valentines Day either...this has been a recent event. Which kind of stinks. ;)
Glad I made you laugh. :D

Kristin - *high fives* Yep, I agree completely. Pretty much just makes me feel sick. :)
Cookies and chick flicks are always good!

Elizabeth Anne - Ooh, we could have matching blouses! :D

Bethany - Thanks:) Mint chip is my favorite, too!

Lauren - I think part of the problem is that my family has never really celebrated Valentines Day, in any shape or form. Now that I'm older and still single...well, it's a bit hard to take.
That sounds like a great girls date night!!
I am feeling so much better. Much more grounded.
Long comments are fine with me! Thank you for taking the time:)

Hana-Marmota - Ignoring V-day sounds like a good idea to me:)

Winnie - Thanks! Yes, this blouse has definitely served me well, summer or winter.
My cold is pretty much gone, thank goodness!
Thank you for your wonderful email! :)

Ella - Mint and brown are the perfect combination.
Thank you! I am having a wonderful day, and I hope you are too!

Cate - I love the way your family celebrates v-day! That definitely keeps it in perspective.

Sarah - Love you so much, girl!! You are very, very precious to me, too and I'm so thankful for you.
    *hugs back*

Rebekah - Thank you, girls!! :D
