Fall Fashion Challenge {Day Seven}

Howdy, folks!  Well, I'm tired but happy this evening.  We had a wonderful time at the Fall Folk Festival today listening to wonderful music and making new friends.  More about that in a later post.

I didn't have a chance to get really nice pictures of my outfit today, so you'll have to be happy with these mirror shots I took while at the festival;)

The last day, {Day Seven} of the Fall Fashion Challenge.
This has been so much fun - thank you for hosting Ashley!
The challenge for today was "wear a hat".
I love hats...but alas I did not wear one today.
Sorry.
I did wear a hat on Day 2 (I think that's what day), so maybe that can count;)

Sorry for the poor quality.  Frankly, I stink at mirror shots;)

~My Outfit~
Headband - Fred Meyer
Ruffle Scarf - crocheted by me
Cameo pin - ebay
The Grey Sweater - Amazon
Broomstick skirt - Cabelas
Happy Trails, y'all!

P.S. We did indeed get our first snow last night - about 6 inches. =)

Fall Fashion Challenge {Day Six}

Howdy folks!  It's {Day Six} of the Fall Fashion Challenge.
Today's challenge is "favorite fall trends".
I don't follow fashion trends normally, but some of this years trends are so me!

I did a bit of a combo on this one - plaid and western.
It's my default setting anyway;)

I wasn't going anywhere today, so I kept it very simple.

I saw a picture on Pinterest of a shirt that had buttons up the back like this.  It looked like a good way to fix a shirt that was too big, so I tried it.  And it worked wonderfully.

~My Outfit~
Plaid shirt - D&B Farm and Home
T-shirt - Fred Meyer
Denim Skirt - my favorite skirt ever!  I believe we bought it from a shop at the Denver airport a long, long, long time ago.  It's finally wearing out. :(
Cowgirl Boots - D&B Farm and Home

Happy Trails, y'all!

Fall Fashion Challenge {Day Five}

Hello everyone!  I hope you're all having a lovely day today!
The day got away from me yesterday and I didn't get pictures of my day four outfit.  I really wanted to do day four because the theme was "your favorite era".  My favorite era fashion wise is the 40s and 50s.  From the outfits I saw, it's a lot of you girls favorite, too:)

Anyway, it is now {Day Five} of the Fall Fashion Challenge and the challenge for today is...Polka Dots!

I love polka dots.  That being so, it's rather shocking that I only have one item in my closet with polka dots!
Very shocking indeed.

My brother's horse Dewey kindly consented to pose with me.
I saw kindly because he isn't very fond of me.
I have no idea why, except that he's a one person horse and adores my brother.
But he does enjoying posing for the camera;)
My own horse, Bob, was far too dirty to take pictures with.
One of the problems a white horse has this time of year.

Please pardon my headless state - the sun was shinning right in my eyes and my smile looked more like a grimace of pain.  That and my eyes were closed;)

~My Outfit~
Brown Baby Cable Cardigan - JC Penny's (bought it the other day on sale for 1/2 price! =)
Blouse - made by me (same pattern as my Day Four blouse)
Denim Skirt - made by me (my favorite 1/2 circle skirt)
Petticoat - made by me (1/2 circle flannel with hand crocheted lace trim)
Boots - I asked my mom and she thinks we got them from Foot Smart.  Can't be sure, though.

Happy Trails y'all!

Fall Fashion Challenge {Day Three}

{Day Three} of the Fall Fashion Challenge.
Today's challenge is...bold tights!

First off, I don't wear bright colored socks or tights.
I just never have...except for the ones with candy canes on them that I wore when I was a little kid.
Colored tights look really fun, so I may have to change my ways.
But today the most exciting thing I could find in my sock draw, were some navy blue, lace-y-ish knee highs.
They'll have to do.

And here are my "bold" tights.  haha!

~My Outfit~
Cardigan - stolen from my mom's closet and I have no idea where it originally came from
Blouse - made by me using this pattern.
Skirt - could it be...?  yes, it could be the same skirt as Day 1 and Day 2.  I promise I'll wear a different skirt tomorrow;)
Knee High tights - Fred Meyer
Black Flats - Fred Meyer

Happy Trails y'all!

Fall Fashion Challenge {Day Two}

Alright, {Day Two} of the Fall Fashion Challenge.
Today's challenge is "Black & Brown, Red & Pink - any color combinations that don't normally go together."

So, I present for your consideration...

Pale Pink & Turquoise!

When I finally decided on my color scheme, something was lacking.
I needed a hat.
I may or may not have crocheted my hat for this outfit.

My super cute prop is named Mitts.  He has seven toes on each foot:)
~My Outfit~
Hat - crocheted by me
Plaid flannel camp shirt - I honestly can't remember where I got it
Pink t-shirt - Fred Meyer
Turquoise cami - gift
Stretch denim skirt - same as yesterday.
{I'll let y'all in on a secret - it's my only clean denim skirt right now.  One of the hazards of living in the country on a farm.}
Boots - also same as yesterday.  When it's 35* outside, I'm wearing boots.

Happy Trails, y'all!

Fall Fashion Challenge {Day One}

Oh, goody!  {Day One} of Bramblewood Fashion's Fall Fashion Challenge!
I always love seeing the outfits worn by the other young ladies, and I can't wait to see their fall ensembles!

Autumn.
It's my favorite time of year.
Time to pull out the sweaters, scarves, hats and boots!

And there's nothing to compare with crunching through the fallen leaves.

We'll be raking the leaves up in our orchard soon, but for now they're perfect for a fall photoshoot.

The Granny Square Scarf, soon to be in my Etsy shop.
I thought I'd take advantage of this opportunity and get some nice pictures of it.
End shameless advertising.
;)

My wonderful boxer dog, Bonnie.
I just found out yesterday that Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall had boxer dogs!  Very neat=)

Check out that awesome dog smile;)

~My Outfit~
Purple, Grey & Mustard Granny Square Scarf - made by me
Grey Sweater - Amazon - LOVE this sweater
Purple t-shirt (under the sweater) - Fred Meyer
Stretch denim skirt - Christopher & Banks
Boots - no idea

Have a wonderful Sunday afternoon, y'all!

Nancy Drew Fashion Week {Day 7}

Day 7 and the last day of Nancy Drew Fashion Week...

~Nancy Drew Vintage~

Something absolutely disgusting happened last night - it snowed.  ;)
But it's melted almost all away now=)

Kellie thinks this hat looks like a small, woodland animal...I guess it does rather;)

~My Outfit~
  • Vintage Hat - Ebay
  • Audrey Hepburn Watch Necklace - Etsy
  • Blouse - Walmart - same as Day 1
  • Beige sweater - hand me down - same as Day 1
  • Vintage gloves - antique store

Nancy Drew Fashion Week {Day 6}

Hullo there!
Well, today is Day 6 of Nancy Drew Fashion Week...*gasp*...that means tomorrow is the last day:(
Truly tragic, is it not?  In fact...I think I might cry.
*insert hysterical sobbing and much sniffing*
No, I'm okay - please pass the Kleenex this way, would ya?

Okay, seriously now, I have had so much fun being Nancy Drew for a week, and I want to thank Ashley and Natasha (Another Natasha! High five!;) for hosting this wonderful event:)

~Nancy Drew Vintage~

Who knows?  Playing the right combination of notes just might open a secret panel in the wall...
Well, it worked in Adventures in Odyssey!

"...play a deaf cabbage..."

If you have no idea what I'm talking about...that's okay.  Those who know, will know.

(Wow - was that profound, or what?!;)

I found the key shaped brooch in my mom's jewelry box.

~My Outfit~
  • Scarf - yet another show scarf...you've seen them all now - pink, tan and cream.
  • Brooch - mom's jewelry box
  • Blouse - made by me - I'm planning on reworking the collar though...it bugs me.
  • Belt - stolen from my brother;)
  • Skirt - same as yesterday, my favorite 1/2 circle skirt.
  • Shoes - I didn't go anywhere today, so I actually didn't wear any shoes - except mud boots for animal chores - but I would probably wear my brown flats with this outfit.
This is another outfit that I wear on a regular basis, less the brooch and belt.

Till we meet again...
Happy Trails, y'all!:)

Nancy Drew Fashion Week {Day 5}

Lovely {mostly} blue skies today, a wee bit windy, but not too cold - time for another outdoor photo shoot:)

I guess I'd call today's look Nancy Drew Modern with a vintage twist.

Exploring a rocky outcropping...

...adventure might be just around the corner...

A sleuth is never to busy to stop and enjoy the splendor and majesty of God's creation.

~My Outfit~
  • Vintage felt fedora - Ebay
  • Sunglasses - Walmart
  • Scarf - another show scarf
  • Corduroy jacket - gift from Grandma
  • Plaid blouse - Fred Meyer
  • Purple t-shirt (under the blouse) - Fred Meyer
  • Denim skirt - made by me - my favorite 1/2 circle skirt pattern
  • Knee-highs - Fred Meyer
  • Boots - you can't really see them, but they're my old pair of worn, comfy lace-up riding boots.
Upon looking at this outfit, it strikes me as "Nancy Drew meets Indiana Jones* in the Wild West".
But, that's just my opinion;)
I wear this outfit - less the hat, sunglasses, scarf, and riding boots - a lot.

Happy Trails, y'all!

P.S. Once again, thanks little bro for your time and photography skills:)

...

*I have never seen any of the Indiana Jones movies, so all I know is he was played by Harrison Ford, wore a fedora and carried a bull whip.  :)

Nancy Drew Fashion Week {Day 4}

Okay, here we go - Day 4.

Yet another rainy day (with a wee bit of snow early this morning), so yet another indoor photoshoot with grainy pictures...:)

I'm going to put this in the Nancy Drew Vintage category, because the hat and gloves are vintage and the style of the jumper looks vintage to me:)

What secrets might our old grandfather clock be hiding?

It was a favorite secret stash for my brother and I...and not just for top secret spy stuff, either.
Quite a few of our disgusting, chewable vitamins *shudder* made their way to obscurity beneath the old boy, never to be discovered...until we moved the clock 11 years ago.
My, was Mom surprised!;D

My beloved blue wool hat, a local antique store find.

A lovely pair of vintage gloves, picked up at "The Old Barn Antiques" store in San Juan Capistrano, California - if you're ever down that way, you simply must stop by this antique store.  Absolutely amazing.

I bought the gloves for my mom when my cousin and I were on our Epic Pilgrimage...and a pair for myself...and a pair for Kellie...and, well, lots of neat stuff:)

~My Outfit~
  • Vintage wool felt hat - antique store
  • Blouse - gift from my grandparents
  • Jumper - made and designed by me - I paired the bodice from one pattern with my favorite 1/2 circle skirt pattern and viola! a jumper:)
  • Vintage gloves - antique store
  • Brown flats - Goodwill, same as Day 1
Happy Trails, y'all!

Nancy Drew Fashion Week {Day 3}

~Nancy Drew Vintage~
Today the sun was shining and it was above 40*F, so I headed outside for a bit of sleuthing...;)
Snooping about...   What have we here - a knife.   Aha!  Footprints...
...er, paw prints, from Mitts the cat;)
"I just think it's kind of...weird, having the heist on a Saturday.  I was thinking maybe a heist is more of a Tuesday thing..."
Sorry - I can't go long without quoting from a movie;D
At this point, I broke and ran for the house, because a cold wind suddenly came up...:)
~My Outfit~
  • Headband - no idea, but it's the only headband I've ever owned that never gives me a headache
  • Blouse - same as Day 1, white with a peter pan collar
  • Sweater - I found it in my mom's closet:)
  • Locket - I don't know if you can really see it in any of these pictures, but it was given to my by my Grandpa many years ago.
  • Pleated Skirt - made by and designed by me - I was inspired by the super cute skirts worn by Hayley Mills in "That Darn Cat!"
  • Knee-high tights - Fred Meyer
  • Shoes - black flats - Fred Meyer
Happy Trails, folks!
