Sunday Style // Zebra Stripes

o u t f i t
brown sweater // St. John's Bay
cream top // thrifted
brown tank // thrifted
zebra print skirt // thrifted
brown flats // thrifted
heart necklace // stolen borrowed from mom

I am in love with this skirt.  Which kind of surprises me, because I've never really been a fan of wearing animal prints.  On other people yes, but not on myself.  But the style of this skirt is sooo adorable, and seriously, it's a thrift store.  I'm not sorry I did.  I decided to pair it with cream and brown, although I'm still not sure if the print is actually brown stripes or dark, dark grey.  It could really go either way, and depends on the light.  But I love it. *smile*

The sermons these past few Sundays have been absolutely incredible!  Last Sunday was on keeping Jesus first in our hearts.  Continuing the story of Abraham, we read the familiar story of how God told him to sacrifice his son, Isaac.  He was willing to give up his only son because God told him to.  It's so easy to let something, or especially someone, become more important to you than Jesus.  He should always be first, and we need to constant put things on the 'altar' and leave them there.  Letting go.

Yesterday, we read about Abraham's faith in James 2.  We are saved through faith by Jesus, but we need to prove that faith by our works.  If we were on trial for our faith, would there be enough evidence to convict us?  I'm so thankful for these opportunities to examine my heart, to review my life, to make changes.  To grow closer to Him.  I needed to hear both of those messages so much, especially right now.

This month has been...well, it's been really hard for me.  Something happened three weeks ago which tipped my little world on end.  Something that made re-examining every area of my life a very important thing to do right now.  I thank the Lord for His unfailing love for me.  He is always with me and will never forsake me.  If there is one thing I can count on in this world, it's that He loves me.  Nothing will ever change that, and that's a very comforting thing to know.

What was your sermon about?  Do you enjoy wearing animal prints?  I want to know!

  1. LOVE IT! I am in love with zebra stripes! That's what we are painting our ceiling in, the walls will be pink and black and our little nook room will be cougar spots! But my favorite is the zebra strips, so when I saw this on my blogger I already knew I would be in love with the outfit! I absolutely LOVE the skirt!

  2. Our sermon was about being spiritually alive.Check our blog later, our post will be up soon! :)
I really do not like animal prints either. I do not know if I would wear that skirt, but I do really like it! I think that it has something to so with the cut of the fabric. Nice find! Your hair looks so pretty!

  3. I really like that outfit Natasha. Your top/sweater combo really tamed the print down and didn't make it look flashy like most animal print outfits. I have never really been a big fan of animal print on myself either, but since my mom now has a zebra print vest I may need to think about getting/making something to match her.:)

Wasn't the sermon yesterday great? I thought it was especially good!

  4. I've never been much of a animal print fan either, but if I found a skirt like that I think I would give it a go! It looks really cute on you!

  5. Cute outfit and I love how swirly the skirt is!! I agree with you that it is hard to wear animal prints but this skirt is too cute to pass up!
So sorry that the past month has been a struggle. It seems to be in the water out there!! Here is the good thing about struggle, it usually means that you gain some new understanding about yourself that you need to know. Not an easy way to get some insight but we usually don't listen unless we feel the pain. I hope some new doors are starting to open up for you as a result!!

  6. I'm never an animal print fan myself, but that skirt is adorable!(:

    decked out in ruffles

  7. The skirt. Sigh. It's amazing, of course, and I love the way you styled it! We've totally got to hit the town in zebra print skirts soon;D
I always thought I would love an outfit that incorporated leopard print and red lipstick, but probably don't have the courage to pull it off (or rather, the right occasion)... zebra on a skirt is perfect.

  8. Thank you ladies for you comments! I think it's unanimous that the zebra print skirt is a keeper;)

Comments are my one weakness - thanks for taking the time to say hello!
