I Shall Not Want // On the Farm

Sweet Pea, peeking around the tree, with various babies.
I'm assuming that two are her lambs, but they all look really similar this year. ;)

btw, I didn't boost the color or anything when I edited these photos - the grass is so green!

Maggie and her lamb Gilligan.

I believe this is Susan, one of Emma's lambs...but I could be wrong.  I know that's Katniss behind her.

Gilligan picked up this "nibbling on everything in sight" trick from his mommy Maggie, aka The Nibblin' Lamb. *wink*

Aww...Gilligan is so cute and growing so well.
Beautiful green grass, deep shade...there's nothing that brings me more peace than watching my sheep enjoy grazing in the orchard and knowing that they rely on me for their every need.  We're so often compared to sheep in the Bible.  Easily distracted by juicy grass in the next field, going the opposite direction of where we should go, not content with what we already have.  But when we trust our Shepherd completely, it's the most natural thing in the world to follow Him wherever He may lead, and to be content where He has placed us.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Psalm 23

  1. Your farm photos of the sheep are so peaceful and restful! And yes, that grass is a deep shade of green. Are those the cherry blossoms or apple blossoms in the photos? Either sound wonderful to me~ You are indeed blessed to have grown up on such a bucolic farmstead.
