A while back, my friend Maria asked me what I thought of Heartland.  Here's your answer, Maria:)

Heartland {TV series} | Amy Fleming loses her mother in a car accident when they rescue an abused horse, and her entire life is turned upside-down.   Set in beautiful Alberta, Canada, join the family as Amy adjusts to life without her mother, meets the dad who was never there for her, falls in love, and makes a name for herself as a horse trainer.

I've not read the books the TV series is based on, so I'm not going to do a book vs. movie comparison.  Apparently the books are set in Virginia??  But I'm not going to argue with the setting - Alberta, Canada is breathtakingly beautiful!

I really enjoy this show, mainly because of the horses, but also because of the characters and the rustic country feel.  Amy's grandpa Jack is fantastic!  Love him. :)  My friend Glenda recommended this show to me, and as her husband says, "It's a western soap opera."  This is true.  There's a lot of drama, lots of teen romance (which makes me gag), lots of hype.  But, I love it anyway.  Looking at the gorgeous scenery, country roads, enjoying all of the farm trucks (I love a good farm truck:), and the beautiful horses...yes, I really do enjoy this show.

I know that a show like this is considered a "family show" these days, but like I said, there is a lot of teen romance which I don't feel is appropriate for younger kids.  There's also some drinking (including teen drinking), some rather wild parties, a bit of mild language (mostly d**n and h*ll, b**ch once or twice), and some innuendo.  I would recommend this show for age 16 and older and give it a TV-PG.

And that's it for today!  I haven't been watching many movies these days (aside from a few episodes of Monk each evening;) because I've been spending almost all day every day outside.  It's so beautiful and there's so much to do now that the weather has warmed up!  I have a lot of farm happenings to share, which I will hopefully get around to this week.

Get Smart | It's Control versus Kaos in this show from the 60s.  Tag along with Maxwell Smart and Agent 99 as they solve crimes and prevent Kaos.  Whether by design or accident (more often than not), the fight for niceness instead of evil always prevails.
This is 60s TV at it's finest.  Hilarious dialog, great catch phrases, and humorous spoofs, not to mention some great comedic acting!  I rarely think about it, but Don Adams and Barbara Feldon are quite possibly my favorite screen couple ever.  Really, the chemistry between those two at Max and 99 is fantastic.  And who can resist a great spy show?  I love how classy 99 is - what a style icon!  
My mom grew up watching Get Smart, and has passed on her love for this show to my brother and me.  I find it hard to believe, but it's even funnier now that I'm an adult!  I get a lot more of the jokes, and the ones I did get as a child are twice as funny now.  There are a few episodes with content that my mom didn't let as watch as children.  Watching it now, it's completely harmless.  I guess I'd give this show an overall PG rating.  It's well worth watching!

High Noon | One hour until noon, one hour to prepare, one hour...and then they're coming for him.  Starring Gary Cooper, Grace Kelly, and some of the best character actors in the business.
One of my absolute favorite westerns ever, even though Grace Kelly's character drives me nuts for about half of the film.  I mean, what's wrong with you, woman?! You should be backing your man up 100%!!  Good grief!!!  *end rant*  But she comes around in the end.  So yes, all in all one of my favorite westerns.

Harvey | What would you think if a man walked up to you and said, "Hello, I'm Elwood P. Dowd, and this is my friend, Harvey."  Only, there's no one with him.  What would you think?  Ahuh...that's just what everyone else thinks, too.  But stick around for a while, you may be in for a surprise.
Jimmy Stewart.  End of story.  Seriously, one of the funniest, screwiest, and happiest films ever.

Star Trek: Voyager |  Space...the final frontier.  Only this time, we're not on the Enterprise.  We're on the USS Voyager, on a mission to track down a ship of rebel Maquis.  But somehow, we've been pulled far from Federation space to the far side of the galaxy, more that 70,000 light-years from Earth.  And it's going to take us 75 years of traveling through space to get back home.  
Follow Captain Kathryn Janeway, Chakotay, Tuvok, Tom Paris, B'Elanna Torres, Neelix, Kes, the Doctor (not The Doctor;), Harry Kim, Seven-of-Nine, and the rest as they encounter strange sights and civilizations on their long journey home.
This is a 7 season series, each season representing a year...and just how they managed to get home in 7 years rather than 75, you'll have to discover for yourself. ;)  I just finished Season 4, and so far I'm loving this series!  Great characters and interesting plots.  Lots of excitement, aliens, and even some romance.   I'd say the TV-PG rating is fair - there is some of what I would call mature themes throughout, as well as some mild language.
