Blue Skies

A beautiful, peaceful, relaxing day at the lake with my bestie.  Folks, it was about 70*F outside!!  And I think I got a sunburn on one side of my face.  It feels so good!  I love this lake so much.  It's my lake, in my state, and there is no where else I'd rather be.

What do you enjoy doing outside during spring?
Do you have a special place that you go?
I want to know!

Maryann
Six healthy babies, three happy mommas.  A very good lambing year, indeed!
She could still surprise me, but at this point I'm thinking that Ingrid isn't pregnant.  She has officially made it to the cull list and I'll be selling her.  Which is sad, because she's a beautiful ewe.  But I can't keep her just because she's pretty.

Okay, gotta go get ready to head to Jenny's house for our crochet day.  Have a lovely day, everyone!

Do you or a friend have baby animals running around this time of year?  I want to know!

Sunday Style // all of space and time

o u t f i t
skirt / jacket / lace blouse // thrifted {Goodwill}
tank top // thrifted {Dazzle}
black flats // Fred Meyer
TARDIS Starry Night necklace // Doomsday Studios

I found this fabulous denim skirt while thrifting with Kellie last Friday.  Normally I prefer full skirts but I'm really loving this look!  Plus, it's got pockets and belt loops.  Perfection.  I also bought the green tank top the same day and decided to come up with an outfit pairing them both.  My TARDIS necklace really pulls the ensemble together.  Topping it all with the jean jacket made it perfect for a sunny spring day.

At church, we read about Jesus driving out the money lenders in the temple in John 2:13-21.

And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:
And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;
And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.
And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.
Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
But he spake of the temple of his body.

Pastor applied it to our lives by asking us what do we have in our "temple".

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which you have of God. and ye are not your own?
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Are we filling our mind and heart with things that bring Him glory?  Very thought provoking.  I didn't feel particularly convicted about anything in my life that I need to change, but it's good to be reminded to be careful what we watch, read, and do.  Can't be reminded to often or be too careful!

: :

After church we stopped by a friend's farm to buy some raw cows milk for my bottle lamb.  It was so wonderful walking around the farm in the sunshine and seeing their baby goats and lambs!  And even cuter are little girls in dresses holding those baby goats.  So adorable!  If we'd been thinking, we could have got some awesome outfit photos while we were there.  Oh well. :) When we got home, Kellie and I made mini pineapple upside down cakes (we used this recipe) and watched Psych.  It was the perfect day!

What was your sermon about?
Was the sun shining where you live?
What did you do yesterday?
I want to know!

On the Farm | Life Goes On

May has been the busiest month yet, even busier than lambing season in April...and that's saying a lot.  There are so many things that need doing during spring.

The sheepies have been enjoying the tender grass in the orchard and now the rich stuff in the lower pasture.  We've been blessed with the perfect amount of sunshine and rain, and the pastures are all doing so well.

As you may have noticed, they've all been sheared, too.
My sheep were very well behaved this year.  In fact, Hank says they were better than his own sheep.  Yes, this is me gloating...but just a bit. *grin*

I'll be sharing the sheep shearing video sometime soon-ish...I hope.

Miss Picabo the llama went to her new home and is doing very well there.

In the horse trailer - I love how easy llamas are to load.

Here she is with her new pasture mate Savannah...

Checking out her new home...

I'm so thankful to have found a good home for her where she will be well cared for.  And I'm very thankful to only have two llamas to feed of this coming winter.  That'll save me some hay!

Picabo's new home is also the farm where I bought my five extra meat lambs.  They're Katahdins, which is a hair breed instead of a wool breed like mine are.  Not what I'd want for breeding purposes, but they'll do for meat.  I think they're pretty cute, too. ;)

The horses have enjoyed being out on pasture, and I'm happy to be conserving the last of my grass hay.

If you follow me on Twitter, then you know that I had the opportunity to help shear alpacas at a friend's ranch last weekend.  Way too much fun!  I took a lot of pictures so I'll be sharing more about that in a separate post at some point.

I love riding with my dad to the dump and part of the charm is riding in our farm truck, the one I'm sitting on in my header picture.  I love old Ford trucks.  On our way back home my dad pulled of to the side, I slid over, he got back in on the passenger side, and explained to me how the clutch and the stick work.  Yep, my first time driving manual.
*grin*
Going up our gravel driveway, dad had me step on the brake and the clutch, stopping the car.  Now I'm pretty sure he was setting me up, because we were going up a slight incline.  When I tried to get going again, the truck died.  I got it going again, hit the gas and popped the clutch.  Ooooh yeah!  Power!!
*bigger grin*
Once I'd parked the truck in our driveway, my dad says, "Okay, now go inside, get your camera, and go take a picture of what you did to the road.  You can put it on your blog."  Hehe...

Yep, he set me up.

This two inch deep rut?  It's mine.

I can't wait to drive the truck again - I think I'm going to really love driving manually.

I'm currently focusing my time on fence fixing, mainly tightening the fence so the animals won't push it over.

Also, I'm bringing home a new addition to my menagerie next Sunday!
Can you guess what "it" is?  Hint: I've never owned this kind of animal before.

That's all for now folks!

BB Gun Fun | Vlog no. 2

It was a sunny morning, the first really warm day of spring.
And who wants to stay inside on a day like that?!  This completely impromptu vlog is the result...

Sorry it's so small...silly YouTube was misbehaving.
*grrr*

Comments are always fun, too;)

Happy Trails, y'all!

Question: What do you enjoy doing with your siblings for spur of the moment fun?  I want to know!

p.s.
Next week, keep your eyes open for Vlog no. 3 - sheep shearing!

Miscellany

Now that the weather is finally warming up, I've been spending as much time as I possibly can outside.
This afternoon I brought a towel out to the backyard where my sheep were grazing, spread it out in the sun, and stretched out for about an hour soaking in the warmth.  It felt like heaven...until Maggie came over and started nibbling on my feet.  That might have been cute when she was a baby, but it's not cute now!

Since my final lamb count this year was only three, and I'm keeping the two ewe lambs, I needed to buy more lambs for meat.  Last week, I drove up north to look at some Katahdin lambs.  The Katahdin is a hair breed, which means they shed every spring instead of being sheared.  I'm definitely not interested in them for breeding, but I think they'll be great as meat lambs.  I had a marvelous time talking sheep with their owner, Tess, and walking around her sheep pen examining the lambs and enjoying the sun.  I ended up putting a deposit down on 5 lambs, which I will be bringing home in about a week, and I'm giving her one of my llamas.  Finally, I found a home for one of the llamas!!  I have three, but I really only need two to guard my flock.  You would not believe how hard it is to find someone to take a llama, even for free.  Do not ask.  I'm so thankful that the Lord led me to Tess' place through the recommendation of a mutual friend.  Love when He turns the seemingly bad situations into unexpected blessings!

Next on the list will be dropping off the llama, picking up the lambs, and then sheep shearing.  Looking forward to all of that next week!

If - IF - I were ever to sing at church again, I would sing this song...

The beautiful melody and lyrics have been uplifting and blessing me all week.

And this is so true it's not even funny...except it made me laugh, so apparently I laugh at things which aren't funny.  But I already knew that.  Anyway...

This picture of David Tennant makes me extremely happy.
Like, really, really happy.

And that's about it.  Hope you all have a marvelous weekend! :)

Question: So...how have all of you been?  I talk about myself a lot here because...well, it's my blog.  But seriously, I want to know how all of you are doing!  What have you been doing this spring?  Anything new and exciting happening in your life?  Any songs that have blessed you lately?  I want to know!
