Bashing About Town

Can't you see us? Bashing about London town?

My bro had some errands to run in town yesterday, so I decided to tag along.  It was interesting to see what he does on his town days.  Mostly PR for his many business ventures.

I brought Les Miz along to read while I was waiting for him in the car.  I'm just starting the "2nd book", Cosette.  I think the entire book is going to take me at least all summer to finish.  Not because it's boring, but because it's so much book!  Not the kind I can just speed read through.  I am enjoying it very much though, don't get me wrong! *smile*

I wore my cherry shoes and my Doctor Who necklace.  They make me happy.

This is Jeffery...

Yep, he's a raccoon pelt with a taxidermied head.  Kind of neat.  He's in the car because Alex is trying to find him a new home and make some $$ in the process.  More on that later.

We stopped at Super 1 to get a snack and say hi to a few friends who work there.

This + string cheese was our lunch...

Oh, and we stopped by a friend's coffee shop where we both got Peach smoothies with whipped cream.  Yep, those are 24 oz. cups - we splurged. ;)

Then it was downtown to The Shops where Alex left one of his books off at a super cool toy store called Fig Pickles.  I would have gone crazy in there as a kid...who am I kidding?  I went crazy in there today!  As you can see, I didn't even remember to take pictures.  Which is tragic, because their book section was AMAZING.  It was like stepping into a fairy world.  Loved it.

We walked down the street to our favorite antique store, Wiggets.  If I had a million dollars to spend, I could easily spend it all at Wiggets, and not because their prices are outrageous.  They have such fantastic stuff!

I thought this "thing" was interesting...well, what would you call it?

I guess it's a desk, but the two chairs are attached at either end with hinges.

Kind of cool, but...???

Ahh...the books.

The smell, the feel of old books...there were at least ten I wanted to take home with me. 

I had to settle for two.  Better than nothing, right?

I came away with a very nice copy of Ivanhoe and a book called Bob, Son of Battle.  It had a sheep dog with sheep on the dust jacket, which captured my attention.  Looks like a good read, but we'll see.

Then we walked a few blocks further to another antique store, Ciscos.

This place is packed full of cowboy and indian memorabilia, animal mounts, and all kinds of other mountain man stuff.  Neat, but the mounts make me nervous after a while. *wink* Also, everything is so outrageously expensive, I honestly don't see how they stay in business.  It's more like a museum than anything.

Alex brought Jeffery in with him to ask how much they thought he/it was worth and see if they might want to buy him.  They didn't buy him, so Jeffery is still with us.  I'm glad - I've grown rather attached to him. *smile*

I did discover the book section at Ciscos where I found something interesting...

My computer ate some of the pictures I took, or else I'd show you these really cool marble bottles they had. 

Oh well.

A quick stop at Goodwill, where I found a pair of Converse tennis shoe look-a-likes for $3, then a stop at the bank and then home we went.  We had way too much fun bashing about town together.  Some days you carry with you as a beautiful memory of the good times, and this was one of those days.

It's awesome.

It's awesome...when you and your bro are walking together on the property, but decide to take different paths, and the dog follows you.  I don't think there's anything better than knowing that your dog loves you more than anyone else on the planet.

It's awesome...when a friend has the word petrichor as their chat status. My Whovian brain almost exploded!! *huge grin reserved for DW moments only*

It's awesome...sitting on a log in the pasture watching my flock of sheep graze.  There is nothing more satisfying or peaceful on this earth.  I always feel closest to God when I'm with my sheep.

It's awesome...when it's gently raining and the sun is still shining.

It's awesome...unexpectedly bumping into a friend at the Post Office.  I love living in a small town. :)

It's awesome...when your dad is playing his bass guitar in his room upstairs, so your bro gets his guitar out and plays along while sitting right outside the open door.  You hear the music, run and get your mandolin, sit at the top of the stairs, and you all have an impromptu jam session.  We're very spontaneous.  And awesome.

It's awesome...pulling/digging thistles in the sheep pasture.  I'm not saying I really enjoy weeding, but I've found it's the perfect opportunity to do some thinking/praying while avoiding people.  People don't generally hang around when there's weeding to be done.  And nothing vents frustration like yanking a stubborn weed out!

It's awesome...sitting around a campfire late at night with friends, just talking and poking the fire with sticks.

It's awesome...when your friend brings 39 glow sticks to game night.  Thirty Nine.  You don't even want to know what we did with them, but it was epic. *grin*

It's awesome...letting go and letting the Lord take control.  Such peace and comfort.

It's awesome...looking forward to {hopefully} meeting some of my bloggy friends this week!  Eeep!!

About a month ago, one of my friends at church gave me this skirt.  She had bought it at the thrift store, but it didn't fit right, so she gave it to me.  I'm so glad she did, because I LOVE this skirt so much!  It's so delicate and feminine, and just about the best twirly skirt ever.
You're never to old to twirl.

There's no built in slip, but my cream flannel petticoat works perfectly.  I'll have to do something different once the weather warms up, though!

The sermon at church today was titled "What is my attitude?" and focused on letting the Holy Spirit work in our lives.  Acts 1:1-8 was the main text, with a lot from the book of John and some in Ephesians.  The basic point of the message was that "The action of the Holy Spirit in our lives is dependent on our attitude toward the Lord Jesus Christ."  Something that really jumped out at me was that "if we continually reject the guidance and prompting of the Holy Spirit we will become spiritually deaf."  We're still saved, of course, but we won't be as effective for Christ, and we won't be growing in Him.
It gave me a lot to ponder and a new way to look at and examine my relationship with Christ.

Today was one of those days where all I want to do is run around yelling "Best day EVER!!" to anyone who will listen.  And then spin around in my twirly skirt.  I resisted both urges, at least while I was at church...well, sorta. :grin:
Such sweet fellowship after church at our monthly potluck.  My church family blesses me so much and I'm so thankful that the Lord led us to this church.  After this month, we will have been attending for a year.

Lilac Purple

Hello!  I hope you all had a blessed Sunday.  I certainly did!  It was sunny, I got to cuddle a precious baby, and brought home the latest addition to my farm...but more on that later. *wink*

Before we left for church, I had my bro snap a few photos of my outfit.  The beautiful lilac blooms make a perfect background for my purple houndstooth skirt!  This is my second time wearing it, and I love this skirt more every time.  I can't wait to style it again!

Some friends from church gave her to me.  She's a year old...and in the excitement of it all, I forgot to ask my friends what breed she is. *sheepish grin*  Never fear, I'll find out eventually!  But she's small for a year old and probably won't get much bigger.  We transported her in the Bonnie dog's travel crate (which is a size...large, I think?) and she fit just fine.  I haven't quite named her yet.  Still debating between Beatrice (Much Ado About Nothing), Princess Buttercup (The Princess Bride), or possibly Primrose (The Hunger Games).

Oh, and why did I decide to get a goat?  Mostly for weed eating purposes.  Whether I do anything else with her in the future depends on if she gets any bigger.  At this point, she's a weed eating pet, like Calvin. *smile*  I'll share more pictures of her in another post.
