I just want to sleep...

...and sleep, and sleep, and...you get the idea.

People tell you that you won't get much sleep after you have your baby.
Believe them.  It's true.  I am so tired.

Ivy actually sleeps really well at night.  Once she falls asleep she's good for 4-6 hours between feedings.  Which is awesome!  But sometimes it takes her a long time and good deal of crying before sleep occurs.  And who knew a little baby could move around so much in their sleep?  She wiggles around, kicking me in my ribs and stomach.  It's actually really funny, except all of that movement keeps me awake.  Not one of the benefits of co-sleeping.  But I love having her in bed with us.  Waking up in the morning with that sweet little girl next to me...it's so special.  Even after a wakeful night.

Once Ivy begins to crawl, there will be no stopping her.  She does not like to sit still during the day!  Which makes it hard for momma to get a nap in.  She does love her swing though.  Loves to watch the mobile turn overhead.  Baby's are rather easily entertained - she will stare in amazement at our ceiling fan for a long time.  And she loves her new play mat with the hanging toys to bat around!

Within the past few weeks she's begun to observe her surroundings a lot more.  She especially loves smiling at mommy and daddy.  And let me tell you, nothing makes your day like a baby's smile.  It makes the whole day beautiful.  The privilege of being with Ivy 24/7 makes up for losing a bit of sleep.  She is always a blessing, even when she's crying.

She loves nap time with Daddy, and Daddy loves it, too. :)

Just chilling together and watching White Christmas.

Meeting the sheep for the first time!

The goats have gotten a lot bigger, but they're still so tiny, especially compared to the sheep.

A beautiful white Christmas this year.  Hooray!

Ivy's first Christmas!

We spent Christmas Day with Hank's family at his folk's house.

Ivy and her cousin Benjamin are wearing onesies that read "All I want for Christmas is my Auntie!" as they sit in Auntie Jenny's lap. :)

We celebrated Christmas with my family the following Sunday.

Ivy tried on one of the headbands her Aunt Sarah made for her.  They're so pretty!

Ivy played the piano for the first time...with just a bit of help.

It was a lovely Christmas, and so memorable since it was Ivy's first.

I think we had about 2 feet of snow at one point, although it has since warmed up and melted quite a bit.

Safe with Daddy.

I enjoyed trying comb honey for the first time, a gift from my brother and sister-in-law from their own bees.  It's so yummy spread on hot buttered toast!

Uncle Alex loves holding his niece!

Ready to go to church.  I love dressing her up for church. :)

Hank bought me my first gun - a Ruger Bearcat!  We slipped outside while Ivy was napping and killed several pop cans.  So much fun to shoot!  I love it!

I found Ivy's play mat on ebay and got it for $10, including shipping.  So excited about that!

Waffles are a delicious way to start you morning.

Ivy's room.  I love the soft colors.  I'll be making curtains for the windows and a crib skirt.  You'll see more pics later.

In just a week, Ivy will be 3 months old.  I really can't believe how fast that time has gone by.  I just try to savor and cherish each moment.  And write down the important stuff in her baby book before I forget.

It's pretty hard to find time these days for throwing together a blog post, but I will definitely keep you all updated on what's going on!  You can probably expect about one post per month for a while. If you don't hear from me, I'm just enjoying being a mom...or possibly frustrated, crying, and eating chocolate.  Not like that ever happens around here...  Blessings!

What has kept you busy in this first month of 2016?
Any spectacular projects or news?  I want to know!

  1. What a little darling. Well she will have lots of energy to chase the sheep around once she starts walking. Is the lamb skin on Ivy's floor from your sheep? I love honey comb, although I think its even better once it starts to crystallize yum.

    1. The lamb skin is from Hank's sister, tanned from one of their Targhee lambs. They gave it to us as a wedding present, and I thought it was perfect for Ivy's sheep themed room!
